Welcome aboard sir!
Quote from Jeremy on September 2, 2020, 10:59 AMMale, 27 years old, married, Central Pennsylvania. Have a 3 month old baby girl. Ready to fight for and defend my freedoms in this country. Well prepared and stocked up. Anxious to see where this thing goes. I also found a reference to this organization on Zero Hedge & figured I'd check it out. Happy to be here.
A little one definitely makes 'taking action' a necessity IMO, but also makes it a difficult decision to 'pick up and leave home' as you see yourself as the protector. I have a 3 year old boy in my household & a 25 year old daughter finishing up schooling 5 hours away.
'Welcome aboard' feels funny to state considering I am myself new here. Just the same, welcome aboard.

Quote from Nick Phillips on September 2, 2020, 5:30 PM38 year old Oregon lawyer, married, new baby boy (7mo and already in the 98th percentile for weight and height, crawling and standing up - he's a bruiser). Democrat and patriot (Bernie supporter). Would like to end the War on Drugs, starting with Measure 109 (https://voteyeson109.org/), the psilocybin legalization ballot measure. None too pleased with the sudden tolerance the Dem leadership has for riots and looting. When "Defund the police" came out as a slogan, I knew we were pissing on our chances in the November election.
Anyway, looking forward to getting my unit started in Southern Oregon. Those bastards from Portland are going to have a hard time if they try to stir up trouble down here.

Quote from Doug on September 2, 2020, 5:47 PMWhoa! Welcome indeed. How wonderful it would be if we could get a genuine, broad Civilian Defense Force going, uniting all commonsense Americans, Democrat and Republican. I hope there are more like you.
It's interesting that certain issues -- drug de-criminalization being one of them -- that used to divide Right and Left in America, have faded away as we have both agreed on policy.
The really interesting issue where Right and Left ought to look again to see if there is not a large area of mutual agreement, is foreign policy. I, and a lot of my conservative friends, rather like Major Tulsi Gabbard. As we did Jim Webb, whose absence from the conflict is sadly missed.
However, whatever we all think about this issue or that, the Civilian Defense Force movement doesn't have to take a position on them -- and thus can unite diverse political strands ... all we need to agree on is that this is still a pretty damned good country, despite its faults, and needs to be defended against the people who would burn it down.

Quote from HQ_Admin on September 2, 2020, 9:49 PMAnd here I told Nick to expect you guys to chase his commie bastard ass out of town on a rail.
(Just kidding; I welcomed him, too. In fact, we've already had some long and productive conversations. Not bad for a curmudgeonly old conservative and one of those Bernie looney-toons...) 😉

Congrats on the kid... remote electronic dog collars work wonders for keeping the little tykes in line!
The little "L" libertarian in me agrees with ending the "war on drugs",as well as all of the other "wars on whatever".Well maybe not the war on stupidity... we need fewer stupid people in the world. But I'm afraid it is another "war on" something that will never be won.
C'est la vie

Quote from Doug on September 3, 2020, 11:29 AMI'm so pleased to see someone from the Left here, that I almost want the Admin to create a special area for all of us crusty old reactionaries, where we can continue to poke fun at the Democratic legislators and executives leaping about as AntiFa th rust hot pokers at them, now congratulating the 'peaceful demonstrators', now blaming their existence on Mr Trump, now every-so-gingerly remonstrating with them.
But if we do too much of that stuff, we'll drive away everyone but hardcore heartless Republicans, and the occasional libertarian (the Right, with a human face). So we must exercise self-restraint and keep reminding ourselves that just as we hate being lumped in with the Klan and neo-Nazis, so genuine liberals must hate being lumped in with people who fly hammer-and-sickle flags and cheer when they hear that a Trump supporter who was just walking down the street has been murdered in cold blood. My parents were staunch FDR liberals and I promise you, that was not them.
So I hope this website is mainly devoted to the technical issues of how to build, equip and train a genuine Civilian Defense Force that defend us all.

Welcome Jeremy and Steve. We are all here together to save this country from the tyranny that has been unleashed by the communist leftists. If there is such a function on this forum, feel free to message me if I can help. Jeremy a three month old baby girl gives a lot of reason to fight evil. I feel the same way about my children and grandchildren.

Actually, what I was thinking of doing is creating a specific "Diversity" group, much like our Brain Trust group, that is specifically tasked with talking amongst ourselves so that we're already prepared somewhat to deal with the spectrums of thought and attitude that we're all likely to encounter as we reach deeper into the general populace. I hate using the term "Diversity", since it's been so badly bastardized by well-meaning but ill-considered HR and government departments nationwide, but that's the proper term for it.
My thinking is that Nick and I (for instance) can fight over Bernie, push and shove each other to the point of (internet) blows landing, and in the process we all learn what makes the "other side" tick and what methods calm the tensions. Because we're all on the same team, I expect we can accomplish this much better than two average opposite-spectrum Joes encountering one another on the sidewalk in Portland.
I'm not a fool, and I realize the same as you guys that the vast majority of the people we attract are going to be right-leaning. For starters, that's the realistic makeup of the American populace, but also today's antics by Democrat "leadership" and their molotov-cocktail tossing brownshirt army would drive Joseph Stalin to the right, and our message is much more likely to appeal to long-standing right-wingers in the first place. That said, those nouveau centrists who used to be on the Left (but are now on the right since ANTIFA and AOC have moved that line) are coming, and we need to be prepared to interact with them in non-confrontational ways. Perhaps this idea is one way to learn how to do that?

Quote from Marc Sayer on September 3, 2020, 2:20 PMWell I don't know how many folks have a similar political story to my wife and I, but I'm betting it's not that rare. As I posted in my about me post, my family was a show business family and for a while I intended to follow in their footsteps. I had lots of contact in Hollywood. Heck my wife and I met in an acting workshop. And like most in Hollywood, I was raised in a very liberal home, though to be fair, they were Kennedy Dems. I was always an independent, I just do not buy into the party thing, but I voted liberal for the first 34 years, until 2008. Yes that means I voted for Clinton and later for Kerry, much to my shame now. And in 2008 I was faced with a dilemma. Do I vote for the first black candidate in history, or do I vote for a war hero. In retrospect, the war hero thing is not as clear now, but back then I believed in McCain.
As the campaigns progressed, my spidey sense told me something was wrong with Obama. And then as they tore into McCain and Palin, in ways that were both unkind, and untrue. It cemented my belief that Obama and Biden were not good people. That was the first time I did not vote Dem. And it was the beginning of my awakening and my walk away story. My wife took a few more years to come to the same spot, mostly because she was working a lot (911 dispatcher doing 10 hour shifts and lots of overtime) and pretty much got her news from NPR on the way to/from work or CNN on breaks at work (that was what they had the TV set to in the break room). Once she retired and had some time to listen to me and our best friend, and start watching other news sources, she soon came to see behind the curtain. The internet helped open her eyes a lot too. One of the big tipping points was when CNN was exposed using the same woman for supposed man-in-the-street interviews in cities across the US.
So I welcome all points of view here. I may disagree, even strongly, but as long as people are here to help and make the US a more secure, safer, more prosperous place, I am thrilled to see them here. There are almost always more ways than one to approach a problem. And as long as we actually look back and evaluate how well our solutions actually worked (something that the establishment -and that means both sides of the aisle- sadly does not seem to want to do often, just look at the long term affects their policies have had on our inner cities, yet rather than change course, their answer is always to throw more of our tax dollars into the same so-called solutions), and as long as we are looking at solutions that adhere to the constitution, I see no problem with looking at all sorts of approaches.
